Matthew W. Hughey, PhD is Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Connecticut and Affiliate Faculty in the Institute for Collaboration on Health, Intervention, & Policy; the Africana Studies Institute, and; the American Studies Program. Additionally, he is a Research Associate for Critical Studies in Higher Education Transformation at the Nelson Mandela University (Port Elizabeth, South Africa) and has served as a visiting scholar at Columbia University (New York, USA) and as visiting professor at the University of the Free State (Bloemfontein, South Africa). He is the author of several books, including "White Bound: Nationalists, Antiracists, and the Shared Meanings of Race" (Stanford 2012) and "The White Savior Film: Content, Critics, and Consumption" (Temple 2014).
