Matthew Hurley

Matthew Hurley is a theoretical cognitive scientist at the Center for Research on Concepts and Cognition at Indiana University. Currently he is working on his graduate dissertation, examining the subject of teleology and the foundations of life as a window into the basis of agency, will and cognition. His previous academic work, done at Tufts University, presented a theory of humor in terms both of the evolutionary reason for its existence, and the cognitive and emotional mechanisms of our psychology that provide for its operation. He much prefers sailing and mountaineering above academics, but one must make a living somehow.
