Matthew Kelly Barnes

NBA player, LA Clippers

Matthew Kelly Barnes is a professional basketball player concluding his 11th career season in the NBA as the go-to small forward for the Los Angeles Clippers. Barnes was an integral part of the LA Clippers’ second West Coast Division title win helping the team make a bona fide run for a Championship. In 2013, Barnes was named the team’s Defensive Player of the Year. An exceptional athlete from a young age, Barnes went on to play for UCLA and became the 43rd player in UCLA history to top 1,000 points. In 2002, Barnes was drafted in the second round of the NBA draft by the Memphis Grizzlies and has since played for the New York Knicks, Sacramento Kings, Philadelphia 76ers, Golden State Warriors, Phoenix Suns, Orlando Magic, and the Lakers. Off court Barnes devotes a great deal of time to philanthropic endeavors starting a foundation, Athletes vs. Cancer, in homage to his late Mother, Ann Catherine Barnes, who passed away in 2007, just 26 days after being diagnosed with several types of cancer.
