Conflict Security and Development Expert

Matthew LeRiche has been working in South Sudan and the region for approximately 8 years. He is an academic and independent analyst focused on security and politics. His doctorate studied the then rebel Sudanese People’s Liberation Army/Movement and how international humanitarian action impacted the conduct of the civil war. Along with focusing on development, humanitarianism and civil war he also engages in emergency planning work.

Dr. LeRiche is also involved in film and media production. In conjunction with Viktor Pesenti he recently completed his first major feature length film "South Sudan: The World’s Youngest Nation."

Dr. LeRiche is currently a Fellow in Managing Humanitarianism at the London School of Economics and Political Science, along with an Adviser to various other firms, governments and projects on South Sudan and risk in Africa. His most recent publication is South Sudan: From Revolution to Independence.
