Meera Nair

Author, teacher, communications professional.

Meera Nair is the author of Video (NY: Pantheon 2003), and two children's books with Duckbill Books in India. She manages communications for India Home, a nonprofit serving South Asian seniors in Queens, NY. Video received the Sixth Annual Asian-American Literary Award for Fiction and was named a Best Book of the Year by The Washington Post. A recipient of fellowships from the New York Foundation for the Arts, Queens Council for the Arts and MacDowell Colony, her work has been on National Public Radio’s Selected Shorts, the Washington Post, and in the New York Times among other publications and in several anthologies here and abroad. She was the Fiction Writer-in-Residence at Fordham University from 2011-2014 and teaches creative writing at NYU and Brooklyn College.
