Sexual culture activist, scholar, campus organizer, OpEd Project Public Voices Fellow

Melanie Boyd works on ending sexual violence by creating a more positive sexual culture. An academic and activist, she believes in putting feminist theory to work— drawing on research, passion, and vision to remake the world around us. Having been a student activist, a staffer at a community rape crisis center, and a gender studies professor, Melanie is currently an Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and the Director of the Office of Gender and Campus Culture at Yale University, where she works with students and colleagues to build a campus where mutuality and respect are the norms.
