Melanie R. Flannery

Founder & Singer, MIXTAPE: a Cover Band for Hipsters.

Melanie R. Flannery is the founder and lead singer of MIXTAPE: a cover band for hipsters. A veteran of the status quo wedding bands, she set out to better serve both the client and musician and evolve the stagnant wedding music industry by offering a fresh approach to rocking weddings in every way; from the way they engage with clients, to their look, and most importantly to the songs they play.

MIXTAPE hit the ground running in the New York wedding scene in 2011 and since then already earned "The Knot Best of Weddings 2013," was mentioned in BRIDES, and performed at some of the most stunning and prestigious wedding venues such as Blue Hill at Stone Barns, Osborn Castle and Cipriani Wall Street, as well as the hippest and Brooklyn-est venues around like the Bell House, the Green Building and Brooklyn Winery.

Ms. Flannery can also be found singing and composing professionally outside of MIXTAPE. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance from the prestigious Jazz Division of Manhattan School of Music where she met many of the musicians she hires. A newlywed herself, she lives in Brooklyn with her husband, who is (conveniently) also her drummer, and their dog, Boukas.
