Research Assistant, International Climate Initiative

Melisa (Mel) is a Research Assistant for WRI’s Global Climate Program. In this role, Mel conducts research on various elements of climate change negotiations and analyzes policy issues related to the design and implementation of the Paris Agreement. Mel works closely on the development of the Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT) which helps governments build capacity to measure and asses the effects of their policies and impacts of climate actions.

Mel also collaborated on the Agreement for Climate Transformation 2015 (ACT 2015) initiative, which used its proposed legal text to guide the design of the Paris Agreement.

Prior to joining WRI, Mel played professional soccer for two seasons in Scotland and Sweden. She taught high school geography at National Cathedral School in Washington, DC, and worked with Grassroot Soccer in Lilongwe, Malawi to help to facilitate HIV/AIDS testing and educational programs.

Mel holds a B.A. in Geography and a minor in International Studies from Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH.
