Melissa Blanco Borelli, PhD, is a scholar, dancer/performer, feminist cultural critic and writer based in the UK where she is Lecturer in Dance Studies at the University of Surrey. She has a BA from Brown University, an MA from University of Southern California, and a PhD from University of California, Riverside. She is the editor of the forthcoming anthology The Oxford Handbook of Dance and the Popular Screen, and the author of She is Cuba: A Genealogy of the Mulata Body about Cuban dance with Oxford University Press.
