Melissa Creary

PhD Candidate in Health, History, and Culture at Emory University & 2013-14 Boren Fellow

Melissa Creary is an interdisciplinary scholar and PhD Candidate in the Institute for Liberal Arts at Emory University. Her area of study includes history of medicine, genetics, race, health policy, and culture. More specifically, she is interested in the social, cultural, ethical, and historic tensions in sickle cell disease and their collective impact on governmental intervention for the disease in Brazil. She also has biology and public health degrees from Emory University and close to a decade of public health experience as a former health scientist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
