Melissa S. Kearney

Associate Economics Professor, University of Maryland

Professor Melissa S. Kearney received her PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and her BA, with Highest Honors, from Princeton University, both in Economics. She is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Maryland, where she teaches courses in Public Economics. She is a Research Associate at the NBER, a member of the governing board of the Association for Public Policy and Management, and on the Research Advisory Council of the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy. Previous positions include Fellow at Brookings Institution and Assistant Professor at Wellesley College. Kearney’s research focuses on issues of social policy, poverty, inequality, and issues related to children and families.
