Murray Forseter is an award-winning business journalist with more than three decades of experience covering the retail industry. Most recently Forseter served as editor and publisher of Chain Store Age, a Lebhar-Friedman, Inc., business unit encompassing a magazine, Internet activities and conferences. Prior to joining Lebhar-Friedman, Forseter served as a bureau chief and reporter for the New Haven, Conn., Register. Since 2009 Forseter has written the blog www.nosocksneededanymore.com. Forseter also contributes to the British blog voiceofthenorth.net. Forseter has been honored by the American Business Media with the highest award presented to business to business journalists, the Jesse H. Neal Award for editorial achievement. He also has been a finalist for the award for editorial writing. In addition, Forseter led a staff of editors cited by the American Society of Magazine Editors for producing in 1980 one of the six best full issue studies (a report on Kmart). Forseter was a frequent speaker at industry events and corporate meetings, domestically and internationally. He made presentations to such diverse audiences as the Retail Industry Roundtable of the Young Presidents’ Organization, the faculty of the Fashion Institute of Technology, American Express, Ernst & Young, Washington Inventory Service, GE Capital, Boston Retail Products, Fujitsu, and Nikon. Internationally he has spoken at EuroShop, at a conference on retailing hosted by the University of Economics in Prague, and at the RetailWeek conference on retailing in London. Forseter was frequently quoted in the consumer press on trends and events in retailing and has been interviewed on Fox Business News and NPR. A graduate of Brooklyn College, City University of New York, B.A. Economics, Forseter has a master's degree in newspaper journalism from the Newhouse School of Public Communications, Syracuse University.
