Sport Marketing & Sales Professor, Researcher and Consultant, University of San Francisco

I teach, research and consult within a number of marketing-related themes, including marketing strategy, sport marketing, sport business development & sales, branding, and sponsorship. I am based at the University of San Francisco, while also working with the University of Pretoria's Gordon Institute of Business Science in South Africa. I serve as the Editor-in-Chief of the Emerald Emerging Markets Case Studies collection. Overall, my work is focused on assisting students, managers and clients enhance their competitiveness, especially when it comes to acquiring, growing and retaining profitable customers and fans. I have designed, delivered and assessed graduate and post-graduate management courses on a number of academic and executive programs in the U.S., South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria, to managers from a wide range of companies, including PepsiCo, SABMiller Africa & Asia, Nokia Africa, Barclays, and Sasol. Through my sports marketing teaching, consulting and research work, I have been exposed to the management and marketing of the FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa, the Standard Bank Pro20 Cricket Series, and a Springbok test match against New Zealand, and have worked with MTN Group, SuperSport International and the EXP Agency. I am a regular commentator on sports marketing and sponsorship-related issues in the popular press, including CNBC Africa, CCTV News, KCBS Radio, KGO-TV, Carte Blanche, Primedia Radio, SABC, and Independent Newspapers Limited, and have published academically in the U.S., Europe and Africa.
