Retired Senior Foreign Service Officer; Former Chief of the U.S. Interest Section in Cuba

Michael Parmly is a retired Senior Foreign Service Officer. In his 35 year USG career, he served in Cuba as Chief of the Interest Section, and is the author of the article in the Fletcher Forum of World Affairs "Dealing with a Historic Anomaly: The US, Cuba and Guantanamo Bay".

In his State Department career, he had been (Acting) Assistant Secretary for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor at the State Department, and served in Afghanistan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, France, Romania, Morocco and Spain, as well as the US Missions to the European Union and the UN in Geneva.

A former Peace Corps Volunteer, with his wife of 37 years, he has two children.
