Mediator, educator, author of The Yoga of Divorce & founder of Reflective Mediation, helping families resolve conflict mindfully

Mike MacConnell, family mediator, educator, author, is a certified member of the Ontario Association of Family Mediators, the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Ontario, the Iyengar Yoga Association of Canada and the Ontario College of Teachers. He has helped families resolve interpersonal conflict for over three decades. In 1989 he founded SOLA, a private high school which operated in central Toronto until 2010, assisting bright underachievers to gain post-secondary admission. In 2013 he founded Reflective Mediation to help families (plus schools and small businesses) find non-adversarial, mindful strategies for reaching agreement and enhancing personal growth. He teaches physical stress reduction plus effective communication skills. In addition to divorce mediation, he works with elders and youth in group or one-on-one coaching sessions to help all family members discover and meet their needs. His self-help memoir The Yoga of Divorce is published by Friesen Press in June, 2016.
The father of one son, he lives with his second wife, Jayne Smiley, a teacher of yoga and voice, in Yoga Junction, their live-work studio in Toronto, Canada.
