Mike King, author of "A Spirit of Charity: Restoring the Bond between America and Its Public Hospitals," writes about health care policy.

Mike King is an award-winning reporter, editor and Atlanta-based author who spent most of his nearly 40 years in the newspaper business as a medical and health care policy journalist. He first worked as a reporter, editor and Washington correspondent for The Courier-Journal in Louisville, Ky. and later as a reporter, editor, editorial board member and columnist for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He is the author of "A Spirit of Charity: Restoring the Bond between America and Its Public Hospitals," published in June 2016. In reviewing the book, The New York Times said the author's "decades of experience covering health care in the South have versed him well in the doublespeak of health care financing for America's poor."
