Author, Prescription for Type 2 Diabetes: Exercise. Exercise Physiologist and Certified Diabetes Educator

My name is Milt Bedingfield. I am an Exercise Physiologist and Certified Diabetes Educator living in Tampa, Florida. I have a Master's degree from the University of South Florida in Exercise Physiology and re-certify as a Certified Diabetes Educator every 5 years. For the past 18 years I have been teaching people about diabetes at The Diabetes and Endocrinology Institute at Florida Hospital Tampa.
I seem to have developed a knack for explaining the pathophysiology of diabetes to my patients in a way they find entertaining and can easily understand. The same is true for explaining why regular exercise is so very important for them in managing their disease.

I judge the success of each class I teach by how much I can make them laugh, how much I can get them to interact with me and ask questions, and how many tell me after class that they finally understand what is wrong with them and what having diabetes is all about. Over the years I have sat through too many technical lectures or presentations where I did not understand what the presenter was talking about and became bored to tears. I never want my patients to have to go through that in my classes.

I have a web site at www.MasteringType2Diabetes.com with more diabetes information and instructions as to how to purchase my book.

Personally, I am married and have a large family of four young girls, the oldest being 14, a four year old son, two dogs, three cats, a rabbit, five turtles and several fish. My kids are involved in softball, horseback riding and taking care of stray animals. As for my wife and I we both used to be very physically active however with work and all of the kid's activities have less time to pursue our other hobbies. We do, however, get a lot of pleasure participating and watching our kid’s activities.
