Global Digital Director, Penguin Group

Molly Barton started her career in acquisitions editorial before shifting to digital publishing, strategy and business development. Today she is Global Digital Director of Penguin and leads digital business relationships with global partners. She previously held editorial and marketing roles at Viking Books and Oxford University Press. Molly oversees Penguin’s digital publishing efforts including apps, deluxe eBooks and Specials (digital essays and short stories). She founded a start-up inside of Penguin called Book Country which is an online community where writers help each other write better books, find their natural audience, and self-publish. Molly is on the board of the publishing start-up Bookish. She speaks frequently at digital conferences including South by Southwest, Digital Book World, Digital Minds, If Book Then, Digital Publishing Innovation Summit and guest lectures at NYU
