Alex Morel

Artist, Documentarian, Associate Professor of Photography at St. John's University

Alex Morel's personal work has been exhibited nationally and internationally since 1995 in prestigious institutions that include the FOTOMUSEUM Winterthur in Switzerland, Centro Leon Museum in Santiago - Dom. Rep., and Museo del Barrio and EnFoco both in NY. He has collaborated on editorial and documentary projects with several international aid organizations such as the Pan American Health Organization (P.A.H.O.-W.H.O.), Organization of American States (OAS), and Accion International among others. His work addresses diverse topics ranging from the deeply personal to the socially concerned. His long-term body of work Relaciones & Relatos is a meditation on family, intimacy, and our emotional and psychological connection to others and to the spaces surrounding us. Other projects like his work in Haiti, Turkey, and more recently in Brazil examine people’s relationship to environments as affected/defined by modern urban conditions. Since 2000, he has taught photography and visual arts, and has been a Visiting Artist at several educational and cultural institutions in the United States and abroad.
