Najeeba Syeed-Miller

Assistant Professor, Claremont School of Theology and award winning peacemaker

Professor Najeeba Syeed-Miller is the founder and director of The Center for Global Peacebuilding at Claremont Lincoln University and assistant professor of interreligious education at Claremont School of Theology. She has served as executive director of the Asian Pacific American Dispute Resolution Center and then Western Justice Foundation, both organizations are mediation service and research associations that work in the area of immigrant/community conflicts, environmental disputes, school based violence and interracial tensions. She is recognized as a leader in peacebuilding and twice received the Jon Anson Ford Award for reducing violence between ethnic groups both in schools and in the area of gang violence and was named Southern California Mediation Association's "Peacemaker of the Year" in 2007. Her published works have explored the development of mediation programs in community/police relations, intersections of religious family law and US courts, just peacemaking from an Islamic perspective and interfaith relations. Her current book projects explore the role of Prophet Muhammad as a peacemaker and institutionalizing interfaith education.
