Nancy L. Cohen

Nancy L. Cohen is a bestselling author, historian, and expert on women and American politics. She is the author of four books, most recently Breakthrough: The Making of America's First Woman President. Nancy has written for Playboy, the Los Angeles Times, the Guardian, the New Republic, RollingStone.com and other publications. She has been a featured guest on NPR, MSNBC, and numerous TV and radio broadcasts. Nancy speaks frequently about women’s leadership at conferences, literary festivals, and universities across the nation.
Nancy received her PhD with distinction in history from Columbia University. For more than a decade she taught history and political science to undergraduates at Occidental College, Binghamton University, California State University Long Beach, and other universities. Previously she served as a senior policy analyst at LAANE, where she specialized in labor and environmental policy, and she continues to consult to labor unions, environmental organizations, and elected officials and candidates. Currently Nancy is an appointee on the Los Angeles County Commission for Women, where she chairs the policy and legislation committee.
Nancy lives in Los Angeles with her daughters and husband, and near her four stepchildren and their spouses. She is a proud feminist but prefers dogs to cats.
