It’s this combination of skillful writing, early years spent pursuing theater at Northwestern University, a trove of “lived” experience, and two plus decades in the communications industry and as a CEO speechwriter that distinguishes Nancy from the crowd. Nancy knows from her own experiences, and those of bold visionaries she admires, that: change is possible no matter the circumstances; boldness is a choice; and real success requires courage, resilience, and the ability to think and lead with wide perspective. NANCY’S STORY AND BOOKS Nancy has been widely published in national media including the Huffington Post, Woman’s Day, Dr. Oz The Good Life, and also in The Best Advice in Six Words. Nancy chronicled her own story in the memoir Both Sides Now: A True Story of Love, Loss, and Bold Living. Winner of eight literary honors including Books For A Better Life and the Colorado Book Award, Both Sides Now offers hard-won wisdom for anyone looking to rise strong after life hands you the unthinkable. Her new book, Because the Sky is Everywhere, helps children and families accept that even though someone close to them dies, the love they feel can be everlasting. Directly inspired by Nancy’s twins, Because the Sky is Everywhere is a valuable resource for educators, professionals, and groups who support grieving children and families. THE STORY: After a decade of caregiving and mourning the death of her young husband in Manhattan, Nancy Sharp recast her life in Colorado with only the couple’s five-year-old twins in tow. People everywhere commented on her boldness. But it wasn’t the physical act of leaving New York City and her support network that was bold. The boldest part was that she put herself in the path of opportunity again. She refused to be defined by her past, refused to stay stuck. Against the rich backdrop of the Rocky Mountains and Colorado’s wide skyline, Nancy committed to taking one step forward after the next…in business and life. This is what led her to becoming a professional writer and motivational speaker, and also how she came to pluck her second husband Steve Saunders, a widowed TV news anchor with two children, straight from the magazine where he was featured as one of Denver’s most eligible singles. With four children between them ages 15-26, and one absurdly cute Havanese dog, Nancy and Steve consider themselves lucky to have found love again and the desire to live each day to its fullest.
