Former Prime Minister of Japan

Mr. Naoto Kan was Prime Minister of Japan from June 2010 to September 2011. Having experienced as Prime Minister the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident that occurred in March 2011, Mr. Kan announced in July 2011 his commitment to promote renewal energy such as solar, with a vision toward a nuclear free society. Mr. Kan resigned as Prime Minister in September 2011 and now serves as a member of the Diet of Japan. He is a member of the Democratic Party of Japan. Mr. Kan has been working to promote the policy of phasing out nuclear power and developing renewable energy.
