Nick Bassill

Author, inventor, entrepreneur

Nick Bassill is an American inventor and entrepreneur who over the past thirty years has built a number of successful businesses. Bassill attended Stanford University where he received a degree in electrical engineering. While at Stanford he worked with a startup on the development of cutting-edge technologies, including the video disc recorder that provided the first instant replay for the National Football League. After receiving an MBA degree from UCLA, he started several businesses that launched multimillion-dollar industries.

In his role as a thought leader, Bassill has lectured at conferences and business gatherings around the world. He is the author of Launch America! Reviving the American Dream and founder of LaunchAmerica.com, a social media site and online incubator established to help entrepreneurs and investors create more successful startups. To provide more funding for these startups and new jobs, Bassill presents the Launch America Initiative to promote legislation for a major tax credit incentive for the investors who fund startups.

Bassill is a business and creative consultant to startups and established companies. Bassill promotes implementing “Innovation Rings” for creating innovative startup groups within large corporations. He also:

- Designed and developed the first in-room safes for Caesars Palace Hotel, launching the in-room safe concept for the hospitality industry.

- Created the Cruvinet wine preservation and dispensing system, which allowed restaurants for the first time to serve a variety of high-quality wines by the glass, and ignited the rapid promotion and sale of California and international wines.

- Designed and manufactured advanced power electronics for induction cooking systems for the North American foodservice industry and introduced induction ranges for homes.

He recently received a Masters degree in the field of psychology from the University of Santa Monica and lives in Malibu, California with his wife, Barbara, their Burnese Mountain dog, Baloo, and their sons Nico and Brandon. Their daughter, Natasha, has left the nest and is using her innovative talents to teach preschool children.
