Harvard Law Fellow at the Center for Civilians in Conflict (CIVIC)

Nicolette Boehland is a Harvard Law Fellow at the Center for Civilians in Conflict (CIVIC). She is CIVIC’s lead researcher for a three-year study that documents local populations’ views on civilian involvement, status, and risk in armed conflict. For this study, she has conducted field research for case studies on Libya, Bosnia, Somalia, and Gaza. Prior to joining CIVIC, Nicolette was a legal fellow at the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission; a program manager for Save the Children in the West Bank and Gaza; a Fulbright scholar in Jordan, where she worked with CARE International to coordinate resources for Iraqi refugees; and a senior associate in the legal and policy division of Human Rights Watch. Nicolette graduated from Lewis & Clark College and received her law degree from Harvard Law School.
