Noël Marie Zagre

Nutrition Adviser, Eastern and Southern Africa Region, UNICEF

Dr Noël Marie Zagre is the current Regional Nutrition Adviser for UNICEF in Eastern and Southern Africa Region (ESARO).

Dr Zagre has many years of experience in the field of nutrition. Prior to joining UNICEF ESARO, he worked in Thailand as the Senior Emergency Nutrition Specialist and in Niger as the Nutrition Manager. He has also worked for other international organizations such as Helen Keller International as the Country Representative in Niger, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Burkina Faso as the Head of Nutrition Research Unit and Oxfam-Québec as the Nutritionist Chief in Burundi.

Dr Zagre is from Burkina Faso, and holds two PhD’s in International Nutrition from the Faculty of Medicine - University of Montreal in Canada and in Food Sciences from the University of Montpellier in France, a Master’s degree in Health and Nutrition from the Francophone International University of Alexandria in Egypt, and a degree in Sociology from the University of Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso. He is a member of the global immediate response team for level 3 emergencies.
