Noliwe Rooks teaches in Africana Studies at Cornell University. She is an interdisciplinary scholar whose work explores how race and gender both impact and are impacted by popular culture, social history and political life in the United States and is at work on a book about how racial and economic segregation have created the conditions for financial gain by the wealthy through dismantling public education for the poor.
