Nuri Friedlander is a Ph.D. candidate in Study of Religion at Harvard University focusing on Islamic law and ethics, with a particular interest in the treatment of animals in the Islamic tradition. Nuri grew up in New York City and moved to Cairo, Egypt when he was 15 years old where he completed high school and attended the American University in Cairo. While working on his PhD he served as Muslim chaplain for the Harvard Islamic Society for five years.
