Pastor Michael McBride

Pastor Michael McBride (known as “Pastor Mike”) is a native of San Francisco, CA. and has been active in ministry for almost 20 years. He is married to Cherise McBride and they have two daughters, Sarai Hope and Nylah Joy. In 2000, "Pastor Mike" graduated from Bethany College with a double bachelor’s degree in Addiction Studies and Theology. In 2005, he graduated from Duke University’s Divinity School with a Master of Divinity Degree with an emphasis in Ethics and Public Policy.

Over the past 10 years, Pastor McBride's commitment to holistic ministry can be seen through his leadership roles in both the church and community organizations. These positions included: Bible Way Christian Center Youth/Young Adult Pastor, (San Jose, CA); the San Jose/Silicon Valley NAACP Vice President; Co-Chair of the Racial Justice Coalition of California; California State NAACP Anti-Racial Profiling Committee Organizer; Nehemiah Christian Center COGIC college director, (Durham, NC); Christian Faith Baptist Church youth pastor, (Raleigh, NC); Youth Coordinator for the Bay Area Ecclesia Fellowship Conference, Founder/Director of the Holy Hip Hop Social Justice conference and much more.

In June 2005, Pastor McBride launched a new ministry, The Way Christian Center in West Berkeley, where he presently serves as the Pastor. Since then, he has also served as the Co-Director of Intervarsity’s Black Campus Ministries at UC Berkeley and Executive Director for Berkeley Organizing Congregations for Action (BOCA). In March 2012, Pastor McBride became the Director for the Lifelines to Healing Campaign with the PICO National Network, a campaign that is committed to addressing gun violence and mass incarceration of young people of color. He is deeply committed to empowering urban communities, families and youth using the principles of a relevant and liberating Gospel message that transforms lives.
