Patricia A. Turner, Ph.D specializes in folklore at UCLA where she teaches in the Departments of African American Studies and World Arts and Culture. She is the author of four books, including I Heard It Through the Grapevine: Rumor in African American Culture and, with Gary Alan Fine, Whispers on the Color Line: Rumor and Race in America. She is currently working on a book on Obama lore.
