Paul Gereffi started employment as a letter carrier in the US Postal Service in 1973 and is still an active employee in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He writes a monthly column on postal and workplace issues for the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 2550 union newsletter. He was selected Eastern Region Hero of the Year in 2008 for intervening during a knife attack on one of his customers and was featured on NPR’s This American Life with Ira Glass in 2010 describing the incident.
He is a stringer for Associated Press since 1999 and covers NFL football, Major League Baseball, and NHL hockey. He also writes a monthly 14-page section covering various aspects of the quick service and casual dining restaurant business for QSR Magazine. Areas of expertise include postal and workplace issues, labor unions and unionism, quick service restaurants, and professional sports.
