Paul Herscu ND, MPH

Physician interested in the interplay between environment & individual, utilizing phenomics to predict clinical treatment outcomes.

Since 1986, Dr. Herscu has been a clinician specializing in the treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, learning disabilities, and various genetic, metabolic and chromosomal disorders in children for which he is considered a worldwide thought leader in both integrative and naturopathic treatment as well as in clinical trial design.

Dr. Herscu is a published author in peer reviewed journals on the development of Clinical Prediction Guides (CPGs) and their potential to increase success in Phase II-IV regulatory clinical trials, novel therapies for sepsis, the treatment of angioedema, and methodologies to increase rigor in integrative medical clinical trials. He is also an inventor on a patent relating to novel pharmaceutical treatments for ADHD and ASD.

As well he has a number of books on naturopathic and integrative approaches.

He has founded several pharmaceutical companies that have, as a basis, clinical trial enrichment technology, to identify novel treatment response-related subpopulations and clinical trial enrichment solutions in Angioedema, Sepsis, ADHD, and Rett Syndrome. Since 2008, Dr. Herscu has served as a scientific advisor to a privately held plasma fractionation and biologic drug development company with multiple products in late stage clinical trials for severe inflammatory conditions.

Dr. Herscu’s work has been primarily focused on the interplay between the environment and the individual, between genetics and epigenetics. He has spent the past three decades incorporating the most current concepts in genetics, ethology, and complex adaptive systems into developing a predictive medical model for the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic disease. A major aspect of his work has been focused on the development of a comprehensive diagnostic system that ties composite physiomics and phenomics of individuals to clinical treatment outcomes.

He also heads the Herscu Laboratory, a medical science research initiative devoted to exploring the synthesis of diverse fields in biological and medical science.

Dr. Herscu holds a Doctorate from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine, Portland, Oregon 1986, and Masters in Public Health from University of Massachusetts at Amherst, 2012.
