Paul Singer

Assets Head of School

Singer became Assets’ Head of School in 2008. He brings with him tremendous credentials, decades of educational leadership, and firsthand experience with the frustrations that bright children with learning challenges face. “I struggled in school throughout my elementary and secondary school years at a time when diagnostic capabilities and treatment strategies were minimal.” As a result, Paul also says that he is all too familiar with the impact that such an experience can have on a child’s learning and self esteem. In fact, this insight influenced his leadership through his 29 years at The Country School in Valley Village, California, where he served as head of school. During his tenure, the school built a solid reputation for providing equal educational opportunities to a broad spectrum of learners from a wide range of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Additionally, Paul was on the faculty at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) for 30 years, where he taught in the College of Education Teacher Training Program and where he served for 10 years on the Dean's Advisory Council. He served on accreditation committees for the California Association of Independent Schools for 15 years, serving as Chair for many of those years. He holds a B.A. in Sociology, an M.A. in Social and Philosophical Foundations of Education, and an M.A. in Educational Administration and Supervision, all from CSUN. In addition, he completed doctoral coursework in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Southern California.
