Paul Talbert represents individuals in all areas of family and Matrimonial Law. He has significant experience settling and litigating disputes before the New York State trial and appellate courts.

Paul has built a reputation as a passionate, intelligent and tenacious advocate inside and outside of the courtroom. Paul began his career in the general litigation department of Willkie Farr & Gallagher. In 1998, he left the practice of representing large commercial enterprises and began practicing matrimonial law so that he could have a genuine impact on the daily lives of his clients. Paul’ s commercial litigation background provides him with the necessary experience and ability to understand the complex financial assets that are often at issue in his clients’ divorces.

Paul believes that it is often in the client’ s best interests to reach a settlement, rather than proceed with a lengthy litigation. Paul explains: “In a settlement, I can use a scalpel to divide the family’ s assets and fashion a settlement tailored to my client’ s particular needs and situation. Judges often
must use a cleaver. ” However, when settlement is not possible, or in his client’ s interest, Paul has the litigation background and experience to provide aggressive and effective litigation in all trial and appellate courts. "At the end of the day, my job is to put my client in the best position to
successfully move forward with the rest of his or her life. ”

Paul is a former member of the Matrimonial Law Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and Council on Children Committee. He is also a member of the New York State Bar Association; the New York County Lawyers’ Association; and the American Bar Association. Paul has lectured on matrimonial law issues for the New York State Bar Association and the Appellate Division, First Department’s Law Guardian training for Supreme Court program.

In addition to New York, Paul is licensed to practice in New Jersey. He received his law degree in 1995 from Fordham University where he was a member of The Fordham Law Review and was awarded the Fordham Law Alumni Association Medal in Constitutional Law. He received his
undergraduate degree from Rutgers College in 1991.
