Ky-Phong Tran and his family fled to the United States at the end of the Vietnam War–-his mother six months pregnant with him at the time. Raised on the North Side of Long Beach, California, he holds an MA in Asian American Studies from UCLA and an MFA from UC Riverside. His honors include a national New America Media award and a scholarship to the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference. His writing has been featured in the Huffington Post, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Orange County Register, the OC Weekly, Hyphen Magazine, and the anthology Dismantle.
