Peter Emerson is a founding partner of KAPE International, LLC, a company that provides political and public policy expertise, strategic communications programs, and crisis prevention and mitigation strategies to clients worldwide. POLITICAL: He has worked on every Democratic presidential campaign since 1972 and has worked for three Democratic Administrations. Additionally, Peter has worked on Presidential/Prime Ministerial campaigns in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa and Asia. President Obama appointed him to the President's Commission on White House Fellowships, and President Bill Clinton appointed him to the Southern African Enterprise Development Fund. HOMELAND SECURITY: He is an expert on homeland security, especially the relationship between the media and first responders. Peter authored, "Utilizing the Mass Media", Chapter 8 in Beyond the Beltway: Focusing on Hometown Security, Recommendations for State and Local Domestic Preparedness Planning, A Year After 9/11. A Report of the Executive Session on Domestic Preparedness, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. INTERNET & POLITICS: As a visiting Research Scholar at Kings College – London, he co-produced & co-hosted the Third Quadrennial Conference on the Global Intersection of the Internet, Politics, Governance and Advocacy. OCEANS: Peter was appointed by President Carter to the National Advisory Committee on Oceans and Atmosphere; he was a Senior Advisor to Captain Jacques Yves Cousteau; and is certified by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency (NOAA) as an aquanaut.
