Phil Mosby was charged as an adult at the age of 16 in 2004 in Washington, DC. He served 10 years in six different federal prisons across the country. He is a lead Poet Ambassador for Free Minds Book Club & Writing Workshop sharing his personal story and poetry in the community to prevent youth from entering the criminal justice system. He works full-time as a Community Outreach Assistant at the Corrections Information Council in Washington, DC. The CIC inspects and monitors conditions of confinement at facilities operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the DC Department of Corrections and their contract facilities where DC residents are incarcerated.
