Philip Schmidt is author of PlyDesign: 73 Distinctive DIY Projects in Plywood and 16 other books about houses and everything we do with them. A former carpenter and lifelong DIY nut, Phil has been improving homes since his preteens (the only thing his father could fix was a sandwich). As a full-time writer and editor, part-time designer and (now) amateur builder, Schmidt offers straightforward advice and creatively simple ideas geared toward the average homeowner. This year, Phil has been featured on the "Ask Andrea" radio show and in Modern in Denver magazine, and he exhibited at the Bay Area Maker Faire. He's a regular contributor to Networx.com and other online publishers, and his work has appeared on the Boston Globe and Chicago Tribune websites. Phil lives near Denver with his wife, two daughters, and loads of leftover building materials. You can contact him at phil@philipschmidt.net.
