Raja Flores, MD, Ames Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and System Chair of Thoracic Surgery at Mount Sinai Health System. Dr. Flores helped pioneer the use of intraoperative chemotherapy for mesothelioma. He led a multi-center trial designed to improve patient outcomes. In addition, he changed the surgical management of pleural mesothelioma cancer with a landmark study comparing extrapleural pneumonectomy and pleurectomy/decortication. With over 100 related publications to date, his energies and commitment to the plight of mesothelioma patients remains paramount.
