Rev. Dr. Nancy Wilson

Rev. Dr. Nancy Wilson is the former global leader of Metropolitan Community
Churches (MCC), from 2005 to 2016, which has churches and ministries in over 40 countries. MCC is an ecumenical denomination committed to justice and open to all, founded by Rev. Troy Perry in 1968.

Dr. Wilson lead the first LGBT faith delegation to meet with with White House in 1979. She was appointed by President Obama to the White House Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships in 2011, and was the first openly gay person to participate at the historic inaugural prayer service for the President in 2013.

She has embraced and fought for women's rights, HIV/AIDS justice, criminal justice reform, marriage equality, racial justice and climate change action.

Dr. Wilson has been a pastor, preacher, human rights activist and spiritual leader for 44 years as an open lesbian. She is married to Dr. Paula Schoenwether, with whom she has shared her life since 1977.
