Rev. Stephen Kendrick

Author: "Holy Clues," "Night Watch." Minister, First Church Boston

Stephen Kendrick is the Senior Minister of First Church Boston, Unitarian Universalist, where he has been since September 2001. He has served churches in West Hartford, Ct., Columbia, Md., and chapels in the Birmingham area of England.

He has published four books: Holy Clues, Night Watch (a novel) (both Pantheon), and with his son Paul, two books of history, Sarah’s Long Walk (Beacon Press) and Douglass and Lincoln (Walker & Co.). He has also written an illustrated book for older teens (and anyone else) about UU history called A Faith People Make. Rev. Kendrick's writing has been featured in the New York Times, Boston Globe, Hartford Courant, UU World, Utne Reader and American Heritage.

With his wife Liz, Stephen has led numerous UU seminars at Manchester College, Oxford. He has also taught UU Ministerial Ethics and Effectiveness (Polity) at Andover Newton. He is a father to three grown children, Paul, Anna and Elizabeth.
