Robert “Robin” Gottfried, Executive Director of the Center for Religion and Environment and Emeritus Professor of Economics at Sewanee: The University of the South, is known for his passion for the environment and sustainable development, including their spiritual and religious dimensions. Author of "Economics, Ecology and the Roots of Western Faith: Perspectives from the Garden" and numerous articles on land use change and forest policy, as well as articles addressing the interface of social science, ecotheology and spirituality, Robin facilitates “Opening the Book of Nature” programs and speaks on the relationship between the Christian faith and sustainable development. He loves walking and working outside with his wonderful wife in the woods and fields of the Cumberland Plateau where he lives, and singing and playing Latin American, Appalachian and classical music.
