Rich Silverstein

Partner, Goodby, Silverstein & Partners

Rich is on a never-ending search for quality and taste. This passion leads him to create advertising that transcends traditional boundaries and expectations-in its value to clients, and to everyone who comes into contact with it. In short, he is a driven man. It's an attitude that's infectious and more than a little inspiring.

Rich grew up in New York, attended Parsons School of Design, then worked as an art director at Rolling Stone magazine, Bozell & Jacobs, McCann/Erickson, Foote, Cone & Belding, and Ogilvy & Mather, all in San Francisco.

At GS&P, Rich's taste and enthusiasm infuse all the businesses we work on. He has set a standard of design here that has led us to compete effectively with the country's leading design studios. And his advertising has won every award in the book-from Gold Pencils to Gold Lions to Gold Effies, prompting Adweek to name him Creative Director of the Year in 1990 and 1992. In 1994, along with Jeff Goodby, he was named Agency Executive of the Year on Adweek's National Creative All-Star Team. In 2002 he was inducted into the New York Art Director's Hall of Fame and two years later was inducted with Jeff Goodby into The One Club Hall of Fame.

Rich is equally passionate about public service. In his spare time, he sits on the board of the Golden Gate National Parks Association, helping guide their transition to public-private funding. He is a member of the Corporate Design Foundation in Cambridge, Massachusetts. And, finally, Rich serves on the board of the USA Cycling Federation, whose mission is to find and fund the next Lance Armstrong-with whom Rich sometimes cycles, but that is another story.
