Richard Colgan, MD, is a professor of family and community medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. Over his career, Dr. Colgan has focused on both teaching medical students and providing care for patients. He has won several awards for his teaching, and is also the author of two books: Advice to the Young Physician: On the Art of Medicine and Advice to the Healer: On the Art of Caring. In addition, he is the director of the Maryland Area Health Education Center, which provides medical care for patients in underserved parts of Maryland.
