Late entertainer Danny Thomas formed "Danny's Army" to support the opening of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in 1962 to find cures and save children battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Carrying that torch today is Richard Shadyac Jr., President and CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. He leads efforts to increase the prominence and relevance of St. Jude by endearing the hearts of millions to its lifesaving mission while raising $1 billion to run St. Jude this year. Shadyac has supported St. Jude his entire life as a volunteer, board member and CEO. He lets his concern for St. Jude kids guide him while never forgetting Thomas’ dream that no child die in the dawn of life.
