Risha Shukla

16 years old from Southern California

Risha Shukla is 16 years old and lives in Southern California with her sister and parents. She loves going to the beach, reading, shopping, and being with friends. Risha was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis at age 3 and has had two auto islet cell transplants, leaving her diabetic among many other things. She wants to go into the medical field after high school so she can help others who have pancreatitis. She started her own non-profit organization, Kids Who Care Foundation, to cheer up other children at their neediest and most vulnerable time: in a hospital bed. Risha loves doing community service work, of which includes being part of the Starlight Foundation, which brings joy to chronically ill children and their families through their "Great Escapes".
