Bob Brecha

Professor of Physics and Renewable and Clean Energy; Research Director, Hanley Sustainability Institute - University of Dayton

Bob Brecha was born and raised in Ohio, graduated from Wright State University in 1983 with a B.S. degree in Physics and earned a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Texas in 1990. He is Professor of Physics and a faculty member in the Renewable and Clean Energy Program and Research Director of the Hanley Sustainability Institute at University of Dayton and was founding director of the Sustainability, Energy and the Environment (SEE) minor from 2007 - 2015. Since 2006 he has been a regular visiting scientist at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) . His research publications focus on energy efficiency in buildings, climate change mitigation strategies, fossil-fuel resource limits, integration of fluctuating renewable energy sources and energy needs for sustainable development.
