Ryan McMunn

Founder & CEO

Ryan McMunn is Founder and CEO of BRIC Language Systems, an innovative business-centric language acquisition program utilized by top multinational corporations around the globe. As the former President of Asian Operations at a leading U.S. manufacturing firm, McMunn has long understood the important business implications of speaking a second language in our increasingly globalized economy. While working in Shanghai, Ryan attempted numerous classes, private tutor sessions and online courses in effort to learn Mandarin Chinese, only to exhaust virtually every language-learning vertical available. He eventually found success with an instructor that utilized a unique teaching method specific to Mandarin Chinese. Recognizing that the use of language-specific learning techniques is essential to grasping any new language, McMunn, with Kassey Wong, founded BRIC Language Systems in 2010. Ryan travels the world enlightening eager business graduates preparing to enter today’s job force. He focuses on the world’s most emerging economies such as Brazil, Russia, India, China and Spain as he facilitates networking opportunities for young professionals. “Without the proper language skills, performing quality control and partaking in social and environmental aspects of my job were difficult at best. I never would have been promoted beyond my entry-level position in China had I not learned the native language and culture of those I worked with,” stated McMunn, who was only 29 when he became GM of China Operations. In honor of his notable entrepreneurial accomplishments and innovative leadership, The Ryan McMunn International Business Scholarship was introduced at the University of Colorado – Boulder in 2010. His program was recently noted in the New York Post as BRIC Language Systems has quickly become a key resource for universities and recruiting agencies alike.
