Robert B. Barr

Rabbi

Robert Barr, whose podcasts have been heard on iTunes since 2006, was described this way by one of the listeners this way:

It is refreshing to hear a Rabbi who isn’t afraid to say what he thinks…Rabbi Barr encourages questioning authority. We need more religious leaders with his courage.

Known for his irreverent and often witty presentation style, Barr is a popular speaker on a wide range of topics. Barr lectures regularly on religious issues as well as on ethics. He has is a regular speaker at University of Cincinnati, Miami University, Wright State and for the Cincinnati Board Association. He has taught at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion and continues to serve as a sermon advisor to rabbinic students.

Barr is Past President of the Greater Cincinnati Board of Rabbis and is a member of the Central Conference of American Rabbis. Barr led Beth Adam with its history-making application to the then Union of American Hebrew Congregation (now known as the Union of Reform Congregations). Barr’s writings have appeared in books, journal and on the web.

Barr was ordained and was awarded a Doctor of Divinity from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.
