Robert Barrett, PhD

Dr. Robert Barrett is an analyst, writer, and commentator on issues of security and foreign affairs, and is the recipient of eleven major academic awards for his work on recruitment and indoctrination into armed groups.

Robert is the co-founder of De Novo Group Inc. an enterprise that brings together proven thought leaders from various vocational backgrounds to analyze and propose collaborative solutions to some of the world's most complex challenges.

Robert’s perspectives on conflict have been explored and published in a wide variety of industries – from foreign policy to astronaut training.

Dr. Barrett is also a commercial pilot with over 10,000 hours of flying time and has applied many components of pilot training and crew resource management (CRM) to team performance. This theme is also supported by Robert’s past experience as an elite-level athlete on Canada’s Cross-country ski team.
